Personality Development Tips
The goal of this site it to provide tips for self improvement and personality development tips. And I mean complete, total, all around improvement. I’m not just talking about patching one problem and leaving all the others there to rot.
This site all about total transformation.
I’m not going to dive into personality development tips and techniques that get you all “feel good” one day but fade away the next. I’m going to guide you to useful information that changes lives permanently and for the better.
My philosophy is based on providing tips for self improvement in three primary areas:
- Removing fear/anxiety
- Developing Social Skills
- Mastering your Self
Most people looking to improve their selves usually are struggling in at least one of these three areas. If you can fix these three areas your live will be completely different!
- Imagine having the skills to talk to anyone with ease.
- Imagine knowing how to set goals, reach them, and set new ones like clockwork.
- Imagine having no more fear of rejection and complete confidence in yourself.
This is the type of personal development I’m talking about.
Let’s first start off with removing fear and anxiety….
1. Removing Fear/Anxiety
I used to struggle with fears and anxieties all the time. When I’d go driving in popular places I’d be afraid to look into the window of the car right next to me! When I would walk down a street and see others I’d immediately look to the floor and avoid any eye contact whatsoever.
I was even afraid to say “here” when they called role in class!
When we look at people that are very “confident” we think they have some radical powers. We label them “charming” or say they have a lot of confidence. Well, here’s the truth…
They DON’T!
What I’ve discovered with my own transformation is that “confidence” isn’t a magic personality trait others develop. Instead, it’s the LACK OF certain habits. The confident person is just like the shy person, except they have a lot less baggage.
They don’t worry what others think of them. They don’t have anxieties that rule their life. Instead, they take everything calmly and in a collected manner. This makes them seem confident to the others that do have these plaguing fears and anxieties.
So, instead of doing all those stupid “i am confident” affirmations, work on getting rid of the things that make you afraid. Because the opposite of confident is not confident (afraid, anxious, worried). This is very important in personality development tips
So, how do I remove anxiety/fear?
This is a highly complicated topic and I go into much more depth into how to overcome social anxiety and other fears on other pages.
Check out this video that gives information on how to fix panic attacks and anxiety completely. One thing that I really agree with this video is the fact that many of these programs and solutions out there merely put band-aids on the problem.
2. Develop Social Skills
I’d lie if I said I was perfect socially. It’s one of those things that you can always learn more from. Especially for me, a once very shy guy. I was so shy I got the shiest senior award in high school!
I could give you that usual advice that consists of:
- Smile!
- Talk more
- Say Hi to everyone
- ASK QUESTIONS (I hated this one)
But…I don’t want to insult your intelligence. I was given this advice all the time and all it did was make me seem like some desperate loner trying to make friends. I made friends and they were all nice people that accepted me for who I was. However, I was not socially skilled at ALL!
I’m going to be brutally honest.
Social skills are NOT what most people think of them as. It’s not all about how you talk from sentence to sentence. Don’t get me wrong, these are very important things to know.
HOWEVER.
If you don’t have the other two areas I discussed earlier in shape, your social skills will be useless.
We are social animals and use social skills as a way of communicating who we are. However, our bodies and how we talk express much more than our actual words. You could be talking smoother than molasses but if your body leaks fear and anxiety you’re going to give some very strange vibes.
With that out, there are some very useful tools for learning how to talk more and be more socially successful, thus one of the best personality development tips. One such program is the Conversation Confidence program. It’s what first got me talking more and out of my shell.
Knowing what to say and how to keep a good conversation is a great skill to have. And the Conversation Confidence program really helps you harness these skills and learn what to say, what not to say, how to read interactions, etc. It goes in depth with body language and what not as well.
Another great series of books I recommend for these skills is anything by Leil Lowndes. She’s got a few of them out there (you can find them at big book stores).
But let me say something. I used to be a quiet and shy guy with lots of fears and anxieties. But then I worked on these tips for self improvement and now I’m much more confident and can hold conversations easily. However, I’m still a quiet guy. It’s just in my nature. But am I considered shy? Nope. Am I considered awkward? Nope. When I want to talk I talk. When I want to relax and enjoy the silence I do.
This is one of the big problems with learning conversation skills. Many people get into the trap of thinking that they always have to be talking. And this is one of the biggest give-aways of NOT having social skills. Tricky, ain’t it?
3. Mastering Your Self
I left this for last as it is the most difficult section to improve in most peoples lives. The whole issue of mastering who you are as a person. Becoming ONE with yourself and accepting everything about yourself as well as knowing how to use your strengths and weaknesses to accomplish what you want out of this life.
This really ties a lot in with anxiety and fears. If you get rid of those anxieties and fears you should not have a hard time fixing this area of your life.
But, conquering anxieties and fears is NOT the solution to a happy life. (Think of those people that aren’t afraid of anything and are in jail for committing thoughtless crimes)
There must be a balance and this is what this section focuses on.
You must learn how to set goals and set a life purpose for yourself. Many people have different goals and purposes and I cannot set one for you. I can point you to guidance on how to reach these goals and purposes though.
It’s one thing to have a goal. It’s another thing knowing how to get to that goal. And it’s a completely different thing to reach that goal and be happy.
Many times people accomplish goals and are left feeling empty. This last section is about filling that emptiness with happiness. I won’t go too deep into this topic right now, as this is the introductory page to this site only! You can check out a more detailed page on improving self esteem.
There are many books and resources out there that promise happiness but deliver results that last days only. As of now, I recommend a program called the Mind Reality. It’s all about conquering your mind and reaching that state called “happiness”.
The great thing about this third section is that if you conquer this section the other sections tend to solve themselves. Fear and anxiety tend to disappear. And social skills come easily when you love yourself. Talking to others is a breeze as it’s hard not to enjoy someones company that is so happy and in acceptance with everything in this world.
Learn More Personality Development Tips
There are many other personality development tips that I didn’t discuss on this page. Such as:
- How to have more energy in your day-to-day life
- How to attract others to you
- How to live a happy life
- How to be free of all negative emotions
- etc
However, all of these just mentioned are easy when you have the CORE THREE issues dealt with. If you want to get started today in fixing your life, check out Mind Reality now.
One great book I also recommend is Eckhart Tolle’s “The Power of Now” and “A New Earth”. These are GEMS that really got me out of my head and helped me see the world for what it really is. I realized that a lot of the “problems” I had were all in my head. I also was forced to watch my “mind” and “thoughts”. What I saw changed my life.
